INTERESTING THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT JIBREEL (AS)
Now dear brothers and sisters, what’s our relationship with Jibreel (as) right now. You know one of my favorite things about teaching this class in particular. One of my favorite things about talking about some of the companions of the messenger Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), is that you can actually interact with Jibreel (as) right now. You know how, you know how? The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) he says an authentic hadith and actually says and says one time the prophet was am, all of a sudden his face was just full of joy. So he said to him what is it?, may Allah keep you happy. He said Jibreel (as) just came to me, aren’t you pleased oh Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) that no one says salawat to you that i send salawats upon on them 10 times as well Allah, and the angels send their on the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and when you send salawat on the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), Jibreel (as) responds to you as well Allah responds to you.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam one time he came out and this is a hadith we were just sitting in the masjid and we were talking and suddenly the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) came out to us. And the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) he said to us what are you talking about? They said we’re just talking about, how lucky we are how blessed we are to be guided to islam. The prophet said is that all you were talking about? They said yes, all we were talking about is our days of ignorance and how we’re blessed to be guided to islam. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said don’t worry, he said i just wanted to come to you because just came to me and he said those companions of yours that are sitting out in the masjid just came to me and said Allah is bragging about them to the angels right now, the prophet (ﷺ) said, “when Allah loves a slave, calls out Jibreel (as) and says: ‘i love so-and-so; so love him’. Then Jibreel (as) loves him. After that he (Jibreel (as)) announces to the inhabitants of heavens that Allah loves so- and-so; so love him; and the inhabitants of the heavens (the angels) also love him and then make people on earth love him”.
Another narration of Muslim is: Messenger of Allah, (ﷺ) said: “When Allah loves a slave, He calls Jibreell (Gabriel) and says: ‘I love so-and-so; so love him.’ And then Jibreel loves him. Then he (Jibreel) announces in the heavens saying: Allah loves so-and-so; so love him; then the inhabitants of the heavens (the angels) also love him; and then people on earth love him. And when Allah hates a slave, He calls Jibril and says: ‘I hate so- and-so, so hate him.’ Then Jibril also hates him. He (Jibril) then announces amongst the inhabitants of heavens: ‘Verily, Allah hates so- and-so, so you also hate him.’ Thus they also start to hate him. Then he becomes the object of hatred on the earth also”.
Subhanallah, think about your name being said in this conversation between Allah and Jibreel (as) and the angels, and think about how many likes that is right you’re talking about trillions of angels that love you. They don’t just like you, they love you. And Allah places acceptance for that person in the hearts of the people that’s Jibreel (as) he continues to be amongst the angels that come down to the gatherings that remember allah subhanahu wa taala and we ask allah that he be amongst us right now.
That’s the the question i ask myself every time i teach this class, i’m like how amazing would it be if Jibreel (as) was actually here right now. If Jibreel (as) is actually amongst us reporting our name to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala (SWT) and in Ramadan what does Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala (SWT) say the angels come down and none other than Jibreel (as) is amongst them, subhan allah. So when you’re praying on that night or you’re reading quran, how do you know Jibreel (as) is not the one coming to your house and reporting your name to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala (SWT). That’s something to aim for that Jibreel (as) comes to my house and reports my name to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala (SWT) on that night of Qadr. We should have that good expectation of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala (SWT), that that’s very possible and that yes a lowly person like me Jibreel (as) could be sent to report my name back to my creator Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala (SWT).
Even you know every time you see the angel and Jibreel (as) is specified amongst them. You know what what does Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala (SWT) tell us on that day and Allah puts this time before the angels that even will be standing in his place and the angels in their rows they don’t speak unless Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala (SWT) commands them commands them to speak. They do exactly as they’re told, when we meet Jibreel (as) on the day of judgment ,narrates an authentic that Jibreel (as) is the angel that will be in charge of MIZAN the scales, may Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala (SWT) make it easy for us on that day.
